Hamas has announced an agreement to end the war on Gaza, withdraw Israeli troops, allow the entry of aid and exchange prisoners.
The Palestinian group released the following statement:
“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
“Following responsible and serious negotiations conducted by the Movement and the Palestinian resistance factions regarding President Trump’s proposal in Sharm El Sheikh, aimed at achieving a halt to the war of extermination against our Palestinian people and the withdrawal of the occupation from the Gaza Strip; the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announces reaching an agreement that stipulates ending the war on Gaza, the withdrawal of the occupation from it, the entry of aid, and the exchange of prisoners.
“We highly appreciate the efforts of the mediating brothers in Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, and we also value the efforts of US President Donald Trump aimed at permanently stopping the war and the complete withdrawal of the occupation from the Gaza Strip.
“We call upon President Trump, the guarantor states of the agreement, and various Arab, Islamic, and international parties, to compel the occupation government to fully implement the requirements of the agreement, and not allow it to evade or procrastinate in applying what has been agreed upon.
“We salute our great people in the Gaza Strip, in Al-Quds and the West Bank, and inside and outside the homeland, who recorded unparalleled positions of glory, heroism, and honor, and confronted the fascist occupation projects that targeted them and their national rights; these great sacrifices and stances thwarted the plans of the “israeli” occupation for subjugation and displacement.

“We affirm that the sacrifices of our people will not be in vain, and that we will remain faithful to the covenant, and will not abandon our people’s national rights until freedom, independence, and self-determination are achieved.”

‘Blessed are the peacemakers’
U.S. President Donald Trump also announced that Israel and Hamas had signed off on the first phase of a U.S.-proposed Gaza deal.
“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan.
“This means that all of the hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a strong, durable, and everlasting peace,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.
All parties will be “treated fairly,” he added.
The president described the moment as a “great day” for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, surrounding nations and the U.S.
Trump thanked all the mediators “who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event happen.” “Blessed are the peacemakers,” he said.

Israeli reaction
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said: “With the approval of the first phase of the plan, all our hostages will be brought home. This is a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the State of Israel.
“From the beginning, I made it clear: we will not rest until all our hostages return and all our goals are achieved. Through steadfast resolve, powerful military action, and the great efforts of our great friend and ally President Trump, we have reached this critical turning point.
“I thank President Trump for his leadership, his partnership, and his unwavering commitment to the safety of Israel and the freedom of our hostages. God Bless Israel. God Bless America. God Bless our great alliance.”
Mediator Qatar said that more details of the agreement would be announced at a later date.
“The mediators announce that tonight an agreement was reached on all the provisions and implementation mechanisms of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which will lead to ending the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the entry of aid. The details will be announced later,” Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Majed al-Ansari wrote on X.
Senior officials from Qatar, Turkiye, Egypt and the U.S. joined the delegations in Egypt’s Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Wednesday, the third day of the talks, as the mediators pressed the two sides to resolve their differences over Trump’s 20-point proposal.
The first phase of the plan calls for a ceasefire and the release of 48 Israeli captives held in Gaza, including 20 who are believed to be alive, and the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed more than 67,000 people, according to health authorities, and has destroyed large swaths of land in the enclave where almost all two million residents have been forcibly displaced.
