A bomb threat forced the evacuation of an Islamic school in Birmingham on the last day of the summer term, prompting a major police response and disrupting end-of-year celebrations for hundreds of pupils.

Hamd House School, an independent Islamic faith school in Bordesley Green, was evacuated on Tuesday after receiving a bomb threat by email.

The same threat was also reportedly sent to Ofsted, triggering an emergency response from West Midlands Police.

Specialist officers attended the scene and carried out a full search of the premises, including checks for explosives. No suspicious items were found.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said the force was called to Hamd House School following reports of a bomb threat. As a precaution, the school was evacuated while officers carried out a thorough search of the premises.

Police said nothing suspicious was found and enquiries are continuing to establish who was responsible.

Police have launched an investigation into the source of the threatening email. No arrests have been announced.
