Six teens due in court over Mariam Moustafa death

Six teenagers will appear in court on September 27 regarding the death of 18-year-old Mariam Moustafa following an attack outside a shopping centre in Nottingham.

Mariam Moustafa died three weeks after being left in a coma following the assault outside Intu Victoria shopping centre.

Three 17-year-old girls, two teens aged 15 and a 19-year-old woman are now due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court to face affray charges.

The engineering student, whose family is from Egypt, was rushed to Nottingham City Hospital following the attack on February 20. She was placed in an induced coma but died from a stroke on March 14.

Chief superintendent Rob Griffin said: “I have been in regular contact with Mariam’s family and their legal representative and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has been in close touch with Egyptian authorities over the course of the last five months to keep them fully informed of the progress of the investigation.”

Nottinghamshire Police added: “Six teenagers have been served a summons to appear at court in connection with the death of 18-year-old Mariam Moustafa. Three 17-year-old girls, two 15-year-old girls and a 19-year-old woman have been summoned to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 27 September 2018 to answer charges of affray.”
