Jannatul was with her father heading to prayers at a local mosque when she was struck by a vehicle. Now one of the family’s neighbours has set up a fund-raising campaign.

Emma Bee wrote on JustGiving: “On the 28th of July a little girl tragically lost her life after being hit by a car whilst crossing at lights on Oldbury Rd, Smethwick. We are fundraising as community for the family to hopefully help towards anything they may need at this tragic time. They remain in our thoughts and prayers.”

On Monday, Jannatul’s devastated family released a photo of her and a moving tribute.

The tribute, issued on behalf of her father, said: “Jannatul, my youngest daughter, was always happy and cheerful. She always bought a smile to everybody’s face. She will be greatly missed. I would ask that my family be given space to be able to grieve in private.”

West Midlands Police arrested a man aged 27 and a 26-year-old woman who live in Smethwick and Bearwood respectively shortly after the collision.
