Indian police in occupied Kashmir have placed the prominent liberation leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, under house arrest amid unrest in the Shopian district.
Geelani was previously a member of Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir but later founded his own political party ‘Tehreek-e-Hurriyat’, which seeks independence from Indian occupation.
