The prominent Islamophobe Tommy Robinson has become a refugee after fleeing the UK to seek a new life in Spain.

Robinson, the founder of the English Defence League, said in a video that he has taken his family out of the UK after an arson attack on his wife’s property.

The far-right activist said the alleged incident took place following his comments denouncing the Black Lives Matter protests, and that Muslims didn’t do it.

He said he is now stranded abroad as he can’t return because of COVID-19 and the quarantine rules, and that he is looking to find a permanent new home for his family.

“It [the arson attack] was targeted against my wife’s property,” he said. “At that point we left the country straight away and I’m looking at relocating my family, which is pretty hard to do, especially with Covid – I couldn’t even get a hotel.”

He continued: “Obviously my wife has had enough of everything — someone gave her somewhere to stay, so we left the country, and I was due to be flying back for the demonstration, but now with this 14-day quarantine, I probably won’t get back out and my kids are out here.

“I’m still in the process of finding a permanent relocation for them. I need my family to be away because they are not safe basically.”

Last year Robinson spent 10 weeks behind bars after he filmed suspects on trial over the sexual exploitation of young girls and live-streamed the footage on Facebook – breaching a reporting ban.

He is also permanently banned from major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube for repeatedly breaking the sites’ policies on hate speech.

Robinson has appealed to his supporters to follow him on his personal website, saying: “We have to fight this censorship.”
