A teenager who stabbed an A-level pupil to death in a row over a £90 bike was stripped of anonymity and jailed for a minimum of 13 years on Tuesday.
Danny Drake was sentenced to detention at Her Majesty’s pleasure for the “lethal and vicious attack” on 17-year-old Alim Uddin.
Drake, 16, had anonymity throughout his Old Bailey trial because of his young age but today Judge Stephen Kramer QC said the killer should be named in the public interest.
The court heard that Drake had offered to get the bike for Mr Uddin, and had taken his cash to pay for it.
Alim asked for his money back when the bike failed to materialise and Drake agreed to meet him in Brixton in May to hand over the money.
But Drake turned up with a knife and stabbed Alim seven times, leaving him to die where he fell.
Drake changed his plea to guilty to murder after his trial had started and sent the judge a letter apologising for what he had done.

The victim’s parents were in court to hear the judge tell him: “This is a tragedy as you rightly say in your letter.
“This was vicious and lethal attack with a significant aggravating feature that you took the knife with you to the scene.”
After the killing Drake had returned home to his home in Brixton, and ordered a taxi to take him to a relative’s home in Tooting.
He tried to get his clothes washed but the laundry was shut so he soaked his hooded top and a jeans in the bath.
He was arrested in Tooting in the early hours of the morning with a bag containing the murder weapon, wrapped in a glove.
Drake lied in interview and falsely claimed that Alim had produced a knife.
The court heard Drake has a problem with authority figures and has been in a fight with prison officers since being in custody.
“He is going to learn a painful lesson and rightly so,” said his barrister Richard Carey-Hughes.
The barrister said Drake had enjoyed a “decent upbringing” but then picked the wrong friends.
