
Police have launched a murder investigation after an elderly Muslim man died from head injuries he sustained during a violent mugging in Enfield, north London.
Jalal Khan, 76, was found with head injuries after police were called at 11:07am on 30 October, to reports of a robbery and assault on High Street, Ponders End.
Mr Khan was assaulted while withdrawing cash outside Ponders End Post Office during daylight hours. After being rushed to hospital by ambulance, Khan sadly died in the hospital on 19 November due to his injuries sustained during the vicious attack.
His family have reportedly asked for privacy and are being supported by specialist officers.
The Metropolitan Police released a statement on the story which also named Jaesis Boatswain, 40, of Swan Walk, Enfield. Boatswain has been charged with grievous bodily harm, assault, robbery and threatening a person with a knife on Thursday, 6 November.
He appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 6 November , and was remanded into custody. His will next appear at Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday, 10 December.
