Iran ‘obtains classified information from Israeli nuclear and military sites’

Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib

Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence claims to have successfully infiltrated and obtained a “vast treasure trove” of classified information from Israel’s military and nuclear programmes, including the identities of senior Israeli scientists and the locations of sensitive sites.

According to Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib, who was quoted in Iranian state media, the files, obtained by “anonymous soldiers of Imam Mahdi”, include the full names, personal details, addresses, and professional links of 189 nuclear and military specialists tied to Israel’s weapons projects.

The Iranian minister said the list is still being expanded as Iranian analysts continue to process the material.

The details were revealed in a documentary named “Spider’s Lair,” broadcast Wednesday night on Iran’s national television.

The intelligence operation was reportedly carried out in early 2025, with the announcement of Tehran’s agents success initially declared in June.

However, after investigating the findings, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry is now starting to release the details of what they have obtained, vowing to release more classified Israeli information in future stages.

Khatib said the trove also contains precise information on sensitive dual-use military and scientific sites.

“In addition, there are documents showing official influence exerted by Israeli officials and American senators on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and their receipt of information about our peaceful nuclear program.”

Iranian social media platforms have also released a video allegedly showing footage of Iran-backed agents inside the Dimona reactor in southern Israel obtaining intelligence which was passed on to Iran.

Khatib explained in some detail how Iran managed to pull off the mission and inspire even locals to pass on sensitive information to Iranian intelligence.

“There were two main motives for this cooperation: first, financial incentives and payment; and second, deep hatred toward the (Israeli) regime’s corrupt and criminal prime minister, which led to acts of revenge against him.”

5Pillars has been unable to verify the claims by Iran. Israel has yet to officially respond to the announcements from Tehran.

If true, the information Iran has been able to gather would have assisted in their attacks on key Israeli military and nuclear infrastructure during the recent Twelve-Day War between Iran and Israel between 13 June and 24 June, 2025.

This latest announcement comes amid an intense conflict between Iran and Israel which has seen Israel also wield its intelligence assets to attack or undermine Iran across the region.

Israeli infiltration inside Iran has also been credited as the main reason they were able to locate and assassinate senior Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh during a visit to Tehran in July 2024.

Also Iran’s ally in Lebanon, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, was assassinated by Israel in September 2024.
