Video has emerged showing a Muslim member of the Scottish Parliament being racially abused as he sold the Big Issue in Glasgow city centre.
Humza Yousaf MSP was taking part in International Street Paper Vendor Week to raise awareness about homelessness.
In the clip, which was filmed by student journalist Mark Simpson for the website www.theweeg.com, the SNP minister for external affairs and international development is told: “You’re not from my country” as he sells the magazine outside Queen Street Station.
Yousaf said the busker attack is another sign that racism remains a cancer in Scottish society.
Later Chris Chisholm, 30, was named as the man behind the verbal attack on the SNP minister. Several people in his own community named the man who is from Dunbartonshire. Chisholm runs his own installation company and is married with a child.
