Long live the redneck American revolution!

Every Muslim should rejoice at the division in America in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the Islamic world, argues Roshan Muhammed Salih.

Like so many others I was glued to my TV set last night until the early hours watching events in Washington DC unfold with a massive grin on my face.

Here was the centre of “American democracy” under attack by the Beverly Hillbillies. Hundreds of deranged Trump-supporting, anti-Muslim racists were trashing one of the U.S.’s most revered institutions – The Capitol.

This of course is the place where the U.S. Congress meets to rubber stamp wars and economic sanctions; the place where men and women in suits order others to kill and oppress.

The sanctimonious tones of the mainstream media made it even better. CNN were calling the events a “coup” and an “insurrection,” and the BBC and Sky News constantly reminded us that a free and fair election had just taken place. I bet they wouldn’t have said that if this were Russia, China, Iran or Venezuela.

Images of a bearded man in a horn hat sitting in the Speaker’s Chair made it all the more sweet. I personally consider this patriot to be the new President of the United States.

But joking aside –  make no mistake, America deserves this. What did Malcolm X say when asked about the assassination of JFK?: “Being an old farm boy myself, chickens coming home to roost never did make me sad, they always made me glad.”

American crimes

Since America emerged as a superpower after World War II it has been constantly at war and has killed millions of people in the process, many of them Muslims.

In the last two decades alone America has invaded, occupied or bombed Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria. It has also launched devastating economic warfare on Iran and propped up a number of dictators in the Muslim world who probably wouldn’t have survived without American help.

And let’s not forget the central role that America has played in the dispossession and subjugation of the Palestinians by effectively bankrolling Israel.

Moreover, these wars have been conducted by American presidents on either side of the political spectrum. George Bush the Republican destroyed Iraq and Afghanistan and Barack Obama the Democrat devastated Libya.

So no Muslim should be wishing America well because wishing America well means more suffering for the Ummah.

Yet sadly so many Muslims have joined the chorus of condemnation because of their no-doubt-justified hatred of Donald Trump as well as, frankly, their geopolitical naivety.

Trump’s hillbilly army

Of course no Muslim can unequivocally support Trump either as he has become the de-facto leader of white supremacy in the Western world. The Muslim travel ban, the anti-Muslim rhetoric and the bolstering of Israel at the expense of the Palestinians are just a few examples of his Islamophobia.

And as he showed a year ago when assassinating Iran’s top general, he’s more than capable of starting a war in the Middle East if the mood takes him.

Trump’s supporters are also openly anti-Muslim and racist. They consider us to be devils and our religion to be from Satan (astaghfirullah). What’s more, they are thick as two short planks.

That said, I believe they have every right to question the recent election. In my view U.S. elections tend to be stolen well before Election Day by the role of money and lobbies. You just can’t become President without being bankrolled by special interests who control you behind the scenes.

But given the large amount of postal votes in this election many feel it was open to fraud in an unprecedented way. And given America’s history of lying at a state level, I do not recognise any U.S. election result unless international monitors are present at every single polling and counting station.

There are also many unanswered questions about how the seemingly unarmed (or lightly armed) rednecks managed to storm what should have been one of America’s most heavily-guarded buildings.

Everyone knew they were coming and Trump himself signalled it many times and well in advance. Yet the hillbillies easily stormed The Capitol building which seemed to have little visible security. Would this have happened if the protestors had been black or Muslims? Nope.

This makes me think that there must have been an element of orchestration – could the authorities have let these halfwits cause chaos for a while so that they could mount some kind of crackdown later?

That said, four protesters were eventually and tragically killed which seems incredibly excessive given the non-lethal threat they posed. But I guess the mainstream media won’t be talking about that.

As for Trump, in four short years he has divided America to a greater extent than any anti-imperialist could have hoped for. What’s not to like?

Sanctimonious mainstream media

The solemn tones of the mainstream media were frankly laughable last night if CNN, the BBC and Sky were anything to go by.

CNN are notoriously anti-Trump and have shed all pretence at impartiality when it comes to the President. He has insulted them several times after all. Their commentators also seem to spend a lot of time crying rather than actually analysing which doesn’t impress me much.

Meanwhile, the BBC and Sky News seem to have taken on the role of “protectors of the American status quo” with their overt support for Biden and their disparaging of any questioning of the U.S. Election result.

But let’s be frank, they wouldn’t have covered an insurrection in Russia, China, Iran or Venezuela like this. No, they would be calling the protestors “heroes” and they would be plastering pictures of “dead martyrs” and their life stories all over their bulletins.

Don’t forget, these journalists are the same people who would happily embed with U.S. forces as they “liberate” another Muslim nation. So save me the sanctimonious claptrap.

A weak America

So I say Muslims should welcome division in a nation which has the potential to wreak so much havoc abroad.

Of course we should never wish violence or war on anyone but simply put, a strong America is not good for the Muslim world because a strong America means more war and more bombs.

On the other hand, a weak and internally divided America is good news for the Muslim world because it means America will be internally, not externally, focussed.

A good parallel would be Brexit in Britain. Our imperial, colonising, warmongering nation is no longer focussed on foreign wars because it is more preoccupied with the possible break-up of the United Kingdom. Scottish independence is a distinct possibility and a united Ireland is on the horizon. The UK has become internally, not externally, focussed.

So thank you Donald Trump for the last four years. It’s been quite a ride and I will miss you. And long live the hillbilly, redneck revolution!
