Three teenage boys have been convicted, two for murder and one for manslaughter, following the killing of 15-year-old Mohanad Abdullaahi Goobe who was fatally stabbed in Manchester last year.

A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy have been found guilty of murder, and a 14-year-old boy has been found guilty of manslaughter. Their names have been withheld due to their age.

On Monday, September 15, 2025, at around 4.30pm, officers responded to a disturbance in the area of Moss Lane East and Monton Street in which a teenage boy had been stabbed.

Emergency services quickly attended, however despite the best efforts of medical professionals Mohanad Abdullaahi Goobe, who was 15 at the time, sadly died later that evening.

Following the trial which begin last month at Bolton Crown Court, all three have been convicted and remanded in custody. They will be sentenced on Thursday May 21, 2026.

Still in a state of grieving, Mohaned’s family said he had “many friends, he was loyal and often played the class clown, simply to see them laugh.”

“Mohanad was our 15-year-old son, and a younger sibling to his sister and brother. Mohanad was the baby of the family, he was quick to laugh, easy to love, with a ready smile. Our son had an uncanny ability to make you laugh, making it sometimes difficult to be serious with him. Mohanad had many friends, he was loyal and often played the class clown, simply to see them laugh.

“Mohanad’s life has been cut tragically short, it is difficult to comprehend that seeing your son head off for school in the morning, would be the last time that we would see that handsome face. Mohanad deserves to be remembered for the young man who was loved by his family, and loved big in return, not as the boy whose life was taken with no thought or reason. We will not allow his name to be known as yet another statistic in the rise of knife crime. Remember Mohanad with love in your heart and a kind word on your lips.”

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Alex Wilkinson of GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “Our thoughts first and foremost remain with the friends and family of Mohanad following this horrific incident. I would like to thank them for their courage and strength during the trial, and I hope today’s verdict will help them in their steps towards justice for Mohanad.

“Our investigators worked tirelessly across this investigation – from undertaking several warrants, speaking to countless witnesses and scouring hours of CCTV footage to understand the elements that have led up to Mohanad’s death. One life lost to knife crime is one too many, and we will continue our commitment to get justice for families who have been affected by knife crime.”

Tiktok fuelled fight

Mohanad was the tragic victim of a vicious fight between rival groups of youths. According to information shared in court, Mohanad was stabbed to death by a gang of boys, some of whom were still wearing school uniform, as part of an “escalating conflict” between two sides.

The court heard back in March how in late August last year Mohanad had been discussing a fight between two boys which was provoked by a TikTok video.

The court heard how a rematch had been scheduled for September 15, 2025, when more than 20 people came together at the junction of Moss Lane East and Monton Street.

Prosecution barrister Alex Leach KC told jurors that they would watch CCTV allegedly showing the moment they set upon Mohanad, dragging him to the ground and aiming kicks at him, before inflicting a fatal stab wound to the chest.

Prior to the deadly incident, Mohanad had been communicating with at least one of the boys on social media about past and future planned fights in a war of threats between the rival sides.

The attack took place in broad daylight after additional fights had already taken place on separate occasions but without fatalities with several other boys also involved in the escalating dispute.
