Torrential rainfall from “Storm Byron” has led to thousands of tents being flooded in Gaza as the already dire conditions for displaced Palestinians have continued to worsen.
A downpour of rain began before dawn on December 10, and after nearly four hours of rain, much of northern Gaza was left under water.

Street flooding reached nearly half a metre with low-lying areas near the seashore completely destroyed and unaccessible.
According to official data from the Government Media Office in Gaza, around 300,000 tents and make-shift housing units are needed to meet the basic shelter requirements of displaced Palestinians.
