A man who tried to burn the Qur’an outside the Turkish embassy in London yesterday was attacked and beaten up by another man wielding a knife.
Police said one man was been rushed to hospital and another has been arrested.
In a video of the incident, the Qur’an burner can be heard calling Muslims “terrorists” while a man yielding a knife can be seen kicking and spitting on the Qur’an burner.
He also lashed out at him several times with a knife but it’s not clear if any connection was made.
A delivery driver on a bicycle can also be seen kicking the Qur’an burner.
A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 14.11hrs on Thursday, 13 February to Rutland Gardens following reports of a man being assaulted. The victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his finger. He did not receive any stab wounds.
“Officers attended within minutes and arrested a man on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody and enquiries remain ongoing.”
