Police charge Yaya Toure with drink driving

Manchester City footballer Yaya Toure has been charged with drink driving, police have confirmed.

Police said he was charged on Tuesday with driving while his alcohol level was above the legal limit .

He was tested at the roadside and again in custody before being charged with driving a motor vehicle with an alcohol level allegedly above the legal limit.

He has been bailed and is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on 13 December. Yaya and his criminal lawyer have not made any statements regarding the incident.

Toure has spoken about being a devout Muslim and once refused a champagne Man of the Match award due to his religious beliefs.
