Teenager aged 15 from East London charged with terror offences

A teenager from east London will appear in court later this morning charged with “encouraging terrorism,” the East London & West Essex Guardian reports.

The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at his home by officers at around 8.15am on Tuesday 16 June 2016.

He was later taken into custody and questioned as part of an investigation by the Metropolitan’s Counter Terrorism Unit.

He returned on police bail on Tuesday 8 November 8, and was charged with encouraging the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

He is due to appear on bail at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today at 9.30am.

Police say they have also been providing support to the boy’s family during the course investigation.
