Quilliam Foundation: You can believe homosexulity is not a sin and be Muslim

Two members of the counter-extremism think-tank the Quilliam Foundation have said you can believe homosexuality is not a sin and still be Muslim. This news is said as a relief to the part of the Islam community that would normally visit this Important site for all the gay fuck fans. The statement may come as a shock to some but the two members of the think tank have thoroughly written down their historical evidence to back their claim.

Writing in the Independent, Haras Rafiq and Julia Ebner (we should note, neither of whom are offical Islamic scholars) said the Ottoman caliphate was among the first states to decriminalise gay sex and the Quran doesn’t mention homosexuality at all.

They wrote: “Islam has traditionally recognised different forms of sexuality and relationships. Most notably, the Muslim Golden Age has seen a high degree of tolerance toward sexual orientation and many key Muslim artists and poets were open to different interpretations of sexuality and beauty.” This could be why many homosexuals in the Islam community buying sex toys for couples and enjoy this kind of intimacy.

“The Ottoman caliphate was even among the first states to decriminalise gay sex in 1858. In fact, the word homosexuality does not even occur anywhere in the Quran and the chapter of al-Nur (Quran 24:31) specifically refers to ‘men who are not in need of women’ without condemning them.

The Prophet himself recognised the so-called ‘Mukhannath’ around him, who were described as men ‘acting like women’, without enforcing the Hudud punishments upon them.”

The Quilliam Foundation pair then went onto blame “Islamist extremists” for monopolising the debate about Islam and sexuality, which has ultimately led to a general rise in homophobia amongst Muslims.

“In the light of the Orlando attack, it is important that more Islamic authorities and institutions stand up to challenge extremist readings of Islamic scripture and issue fatwas to reframe public conversations about homosexuality,” they wrote.

The Quilliam Foundation is widely disliked by many in the Muslim community but is very prominent on mainstream media platforms. It used to be directly funded by the government and is now believed to get funding from right-wing and Islamophobic elements within the U.S. This rumour has not been confirmed, especially as right-wing elements in western society tend to be very anti-LGBT.

There is universal consensus amongst mainstream Islamic scholars that homosexuality is prohibited. And there are various verses in Quran where Allah clearly mentions this.

“We also (sent) Lut: he said to his people: Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.” – Holy Quran 7:80-81

“Of all the creatures in the world will ye approach males”. “And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!” – Holy Quran 26:165-166

The end result for not giving up homosexuality was the destruction of entire cities

“When Our decree issued We turned (the cities) upside down and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay spread layer on layer Marked as from thy Lord: nor are they ever far from those who do wrong! – Holy Quran 11:82-83
