Robinson was in prison at the time after being recalled following a previous jail spell for mortgage fraud.
In his police interview tape, heard by the Daily Star Sunday, Lennon claims other inmates were offered £500, a mobile phone and an ounce of Spice – a synthetic cannabis – to throw boiling water and sugar over him, so he acted in “self-defence”.
He told police: “I hit him because he’s gonna get me – and that’s it.”
He has accused police of “failing their duty of care” after prison officers refused to put him in isolation, despite “threats” to his life.
In the tape, Lennon claims he is “probably the biggest target in Britain and Europe for Muslims”.
The anti-Islam campaigner says police tried to recruit him as an undercover agent – and claims they are now trying to silence him by putting him in jail.
He said: “I was recalled with eight days left on my licence.
“I think they wanted there to be an attempt on my life, because security services made an attempt to recruit me and I told them politely to f**k off.
“Since then they know I’m going to talk about this when I get off licence.”
