Members of the far-right group Pegida (Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West) have been holding a demonstration in Birmingham today.
The group, which started in Germany, has said it is worried about the rise in the number of people who adhere to a strict interpretation of Islam. The rally today was attended by around 150 people.
Opponents of the group also rallied at Victoria Square in the city centre. They said the group was attempting to “bring division” to Birmingham.
