VIDEO: Jeremy Corbyn apologises for Labour decision to take country into Iraq war

Jeremy Corbyn has apologised on behalf of Labour for Tony Blair’s decision to go to war in Iraq, saying it was a “stain” on the party and country.

The anti-war Labour leader apologised to the people of Iraq, the families of soldiers who were killed or wounded and the British public.

Mr Corbyn, who was a prominent figure in the opposition movement to the Iraq War, did not directly name Mr Blair or call for him to face any sort of sanctions for his role.

But he repeated the comments – first made in the Commons – suggesting that Parliament had been lied to by Mr Blair’s government and that consequences may follow.
