Sectarianism: Sunni-Shia debate

The Muslim world is undergoing its worst trauma in living memory. Across the Middle East Muslim is fighting Muslim. In some places the two major sects of Islam – Sunnism and Shiaism – are on the verge of civil war.

The aftershocks of these conflicts are being felt all over the world – even on the streets of Britain. Sectarianism is definitely gaining ground – even becoming mainstream. And as sectarian rhetoric continues to gain ground on the airwaves and on social media, there are fears that violence or worse could be an inevitability.

In this unique 30 minute programme we bring a Sunni Muslim (Dilly Hussain) and a Shia Muslim (Haseeb Rizvi) face-to-face to sit down together for a no-holds-barred but polite and respectful debate.
