London mayor Sadiq Khan has said that extremism is a growing problem within the Muslim community.
In his speech to the Labour party conference in Liverpool, Khan was given a resounding welcome and a standing ovation by delegates. Many tip him to become the next Labour leader after Jeremy Corbyn.
Khan congratulated Corbyn on his victory in the Labour leadership contest but, in what many considered to be a veiled barb to Corbyn, he chose to focus his speech on the importance of winning power.
During the speech Khan called for better social integration and said that hate crime such as Islamophobia, anti-semitism and homophobia had risen.
But he also said that extremism is a growing problem in the Muslim community and the far-right and that minority communities need to have a real sense of belonging to make them resilient to extremism and radicalisation. Scroll forward to 7.30 mins in the video to watch this.
