New Armed Forces Muslim forum launched

British soldiers have been involved in several brutal wars against Muslim nations

The Defence Secretary says he wants more British Muslims to join the Armed Forces.

Michael Fallon made his first public speech since taking up the job last week. He was at the launch of the very first Armed Forces Muslim Forum, which aims to break down barriers between the UK military and the Muslim community.

Muslim community representatives such as Julie Siddique of the Islamic Society of Britain attended the event, but it is doubtful how influential these “community leaders” are.

Many British Muslims refuse to have anything to do with the Armed Forces because of the military’s role in invading and occupying Muslim countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan, killing many Muslims in the process and destabilising whole regions.
