Muslims harassed by West Ham fans while praying at stadium

A group of West Ham fans hurled abuse after they witnessed their own Muslim supporters praying during a match on Saturday.

As the group of supporters pray underneath the main stand at Upton Park, fellow West Ham fans began filming and hurling abuse at them.

The Muslim fans didn’t appear to react to the abuse aimed at them and it’s not believed that they have made a complaint about the treatment they received.

Fiyaz Mughal, who runs the anti-Muslim hatred hotline Tell Mama, called on football clubs to invest in Prayer Rooms for religious supporters.

Mr Mughal described the video as “very worrying” and said more should be done to tackle racism in football.

West Ham declined to comment but a spokesman said that the club does good work with local community groups.
