GEO TV report: Muslims celebrated Eid on wrong day

Prominent Pakistani TV station GEO is reporting that religious scholars in the country have admitted that Eid should have been celebrated on Tuesday and not Monday.

The mawlanas in the report said that Eid was announced on the wrong day in Britain and that reports from South Africa that the new moon had been sighted on Sunday were false.

The mawlanas also said that the Ummah was misled by the Islamic channels which announced Eid on Monday and that those who celebrated Eid on Monday would have to make up the extra fast.

Eid was celebrated on Monday by the majority of Muslims around the world from different sects and countries, although a sizable minority are celebrating it today (Tuesday).
