Gaza rubble bucket challenge

Instead of pouring ice water over their heads in solidarity with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) patients, Gazans are pouring sand and dust over their heads in solidarity with children of Gaza.

Videos of celebrities and private individuals taking “The Ice Bucket Challenge” went viral on Facebook during the same time as the war on Gaza, so Palestinians have thought of a similar way to powerfully promote the cause of Gaza.

Almost 11,000 houses were completely destroyed in the last war in Gaza, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). About 37,000 houses were exposed to substantial damage, but are still inhabitable. Around half a million people have been displaced, according to UNRWA.
