MOTHIN ALI: Death threats, racist abuse forced me into police hiding

EXCLUSIVE: Hero Muslim councillor, Mothin Ali, who risked his life trying to protecting the police and his community from rioters in Leeds has revealed to 5Pillars how he suffered in silence amid a tsunami of racist abuse following his election victory in May.

Ali was filmed chanting “Allah Hu Akbar” after winning in the local elections and dedicating the victory to Palestine. The right-wing backlash that followed forced Ali into hiding over fears for his family’s safety.

Similarly, far-right voices attempted to smear Ali as a rioting thug during the recent Leeds unrest.

The abuse, threats and even home visits by his haters grew so intense he was forced into temporary police hiding until the attention died down.
