A knife-wielding thug is beginning an eight year jail sentence after stabbing a former friend following a Facebook feud about Birmingham
Afsar Uddin, 21, knifed Monway Ali in the back three times on March 18 last year following abusive online exchanges and a series of face-to-face confrontations.
Uddin’s brother, in a dig at Mr Ali, had posted on Facebook: “Birmingham’s a bag of s***e these days. Little short a**e Asian boys in large groups acting hard. No qualifications, no proper jobs, with ‘bud’ in their pouchbags, with their jeans falling off and funny baseball caps.”
Mr Ali took offence at the comments and posted back equally insulting remarks, Gloucester Crown Court was told.
Uddin, of Longlevens, Gloucester, was convicted of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in Gloucester’s Barton Street area. He had earlier been cleared of attempted murder.

Mr Ali had needed emergency surgery to save his life.
Jailing him for eight years, Judge Jamie Tabor QC said he was satisfied Uddin had armed himself with the knife and gone looking for Mr Ali.
Judge Tabor said the case illustrated that taking knives out onto the street could ruin the lives, not only of stabbing victims but also those who wielded them.
“I can safely say that the message on Facebook was the genesis to this,” he said. “As the younger brother you felt you had a duty to protect the family name. This tells us everything you need to know about the dangers of young men carrying knives.”
