A missing Muslim woman from Manchester, Fizza Ahmed, has been found dead, police have confirmed.
Fizza was last seen in Didsbury at around 6pm on Thursday but Greater Manchester Police have now confirmed that her body was found on Sunday.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and her next of kin have been informed.
A GMP spokesperson said: “Earlier today, a member of the public sadly found a body which is believed to be that of missing Fizza Ahmed from Didsbury. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file has been submitted to the coroner. We send our condolences to her family.”
A statement from Didsbury Mosque asked members of the Muslim community to keep Ms Ahmed’s family in their prayers.
“Innaa lillahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji’un. Fizza’s family have asked for all searches for her to stop. Thank you to everyone for their support. A body has been found and is most likely Fizza’s. Please keep the family in your prayers during this very difficult and sad time.”
Earlier the mosque had appealed for urgent help to gather search parties to help find Fizza Ahmed who it described as “currently vunerable.”
