A prominent pro-Brexit protester who was filmed last year saying that he wants to “ban Islam from the West”, has had his online fundraising pages suspended.
James Goddard who is the most prominent self-styled “yellow vest” activist that has been stationed outside parliament calling for Brexit was filmed saying that Islam should be outlawed in Britain.
Goddard who has been filming himself and other activists verbally abusing people, including the Conservative MP Anna Soubry, has created a profile by posting live confrontations on Facebook whilst asking for donations to fund his activities.
However, following calls from the Speaker of the House, John Bercow, as well as from more than a hundred MPs for a stronger police response after a group including Goddard surrounded Soubry as she entered parliament, his PayPal and Facebook pages were removed.
Goddard’s fundraising page on the Patreon website, on which he described himself as a “political activist” and asked for donations, has also been shut down.
In a video filmed last September, Goddard debated Islam with Jaffer Ladak, the imam of a mosque in Stanmore, north London.
During the debate, Goddard claimed that the estimated 2,000 mosques in Britain “shouldn’t be there” and he would “get rid of them”.

When asked what this would mean in practice, Goddard said: “I wouldn’t blow them up. If I ever got into power I’d give you all £5,000 to £10,000 and ask you to leave.
“I don’t believe that Islam should be in the west, no. This is a Christian country.”
He went on to say that if Muslims refused to leave voluntarily, “then we’d have to think of a legal way that we could do it”.
Goddard said that he wanted to “ban Islam from the west”, describing the faith “a threat to every man, woman and child in this country”.
He added: “I just don’t think that Islam is compatible with the west. I just don’t think that people who believe in child marriage and terrorism should be in the United Kingdom, or Europe for that matter.
“That book poses a threat, and as long as that book exists there will never be peace in the west.”
Goddard has previously posted Islamophobic statements on social media site Gab, and has voiced support for Tommy Robinson, the former leader of the far-right English Defence League.
Over the last few weeks, members of the “yellow vest” group have also blocked Westminster Bridge, shouted several racist, Islamophobic and sexist abuse at journalists, and stormed into the offices of the Labour Party and a radio station.
