An elderly man killed in a collision in the A12 two weeks ago has been named locally as Mohammad Muqtadir.
He died at around 6am after leaving Fajr salaat at Redbridge Islamic Centre, near the junction with Ellesmere Gardens.
Mr Muqtadir, reportedly in his 70s, was believed to have been walking towards his house in Castle Drive, Redbridge, when he was involved in a “serious collision” with a car.
Emergency services were called but Mr Muqtadir was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.40am.
The driver stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.
Mustafa Uddin, Mr Muqtadir’s son, told the Ilford Recorder: “We are still trying to come to terms with it.”
Janaza prayer was held for Mr Muqtadir at the East London Mosque, Whitechapel, last Tuesday, and he was buried in the Gardens of Peace Cemetery, Elmbridge Road, Hainault, later the same day.

Sheila Habib, a friend of the Muqtadir family, described the victim as a “lovely man”.
She said: “He reminded me of my own father; he was very well liked by everyone and was an excellent father and grandfather.”
Abu Khayar, president of Redbridge Islamic Centre, commented: “He was a very committed person and Muslim, he would come to prayers five times a day.
“He was quiet, he did not engage in any silliness, he will be missed.”
