A murder investigation has been launched after a Muslim man died in hospital three days after being stabbed in a targeted attack in Birmingham.
The victim has been named locally as Zeeshan Shaukat, who was in his 30s.
West Midlands Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Ashville Avenue in Hodge Hill at around 11.50pm on Tuesday, August 25.
Zeeshan suffered a number of injuries and was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition. He remained in hospital before sadly dying on Friday, August 28.
Police subsequently launched a murder investigation and said they believe Zeeshan was the victim of a targeted attack.

The approximately two-minute video, filmed from a camera overlooking the front of a property, shows a confrontation involving two men taking place on a driveway and immediately outside the property.

During the footage, a man can be seen being repeatedly attacked as the confrontation moves around the driveway and between parked vehicles. At points, the victim appears to be struck repeatedly while trying to move away from his attacker.
The victim can be seen attempting to defend himself and escape during the incident.
Detectives from West Midlands Police’s Major Crime Unit have been carrying out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries as they attempt to establish what happened and identify those responsible.
Zeeshan’s family are being supported and updated by specialist police officers.
The killing prompted an increased police presence across parts of east Birmingham, with Section 60 stop-and-search powers introduced over the weekend.
Police said officers recovered two machetes from a vehicle on Adderley Road on Saturday night, while a firearm and other weapons were recovered on Friday.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and possession of a knife, while three other men were charged with weapons offences. However, police have not said that those weapons offences or arrests are directly connected to Zeeshan’s murder.
Officers have continued reassurance patrols in the area while the murder investigation remains ongoing.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or has CCTV, mobile phone or other footage which could assist the investigation to contact them, quoting log 6000 of August 25.
