Workers Party candidate Keith Mason sacked over Islamophobic tweets

George Galloway with Keith Mason

George Galloway has sacked the Workers Party candidate for Wakefield, Keith Mason, after a string of anti-Islam tweets emerged on his social media.

In the tweets Mason insulted Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

The former rugby league player is a staunch Christian and accused Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) of being a “false prophet” and said “Islam without lies dies.”

The Workers Party relies on the Muslim vote for much of its support.

Workers Party leader Galloway initially defended Mason, saying he had repented for his comments and been granted forgiveness at a mosque.

Galloway also highlighted Mason’s advocacy for Gaza.
