Maria Akbar highlights the constant Israeli lies that are being spewed out about the Palestinians and how the Western media is gobbling them up to support the ongoing genocide.
The hypocrisy that has been unveiled since October 7th gets worse every day. The blatant lies spewed by Western media and its high profile personalities is outrageous! They will go to all lengths to push through their agenda, regardless of its fabrication and baselessness.
Israeli journalists are reporting, without evidence, that Palestinians have done to them some of the very crimes that Israelis themselves have doing to Palestinians. For example, fake reporting about rapes, beheading babies and babies being put in ovens and so on.
This is ironic because Israelis themselves are literally blowing up Palestinian babies to pieces. Images are emerging of limbs detached from torsos, skin shredded, bones revealed and foetuses being ripped out of mothers. These sights will stay with us a lifetime. Yet, there is little, if any, hard evidence for what the Israelis accuse the Palestinians of doing.
Similarly, the mainstream media has reported about so-called Israeli hostages who faced mental and physical trauma. However, the evidence is to the contrary – many of the clips and images showing Israeli captives being released appear to show many of them in good spirits. Some even speaking of good treatment while in captivity.
If we then compare the footage of Palestinians who were released, they show clear signs of physical and mental abuse and report this also to the Arab press.
The most ridiculous thing being claimed is that Israeli hostages were not given adequate meals or medical aid and I am bedazzled at the way this is being reported. Are Western journalists so out of touch with the situation on the ground? Did they miss the memo? The fact that water, food, aid and electricity is all being cut off from Gaza by Israel?! A decision backed by many Western politicians.

As well as this, have they not seen the images emerging of Palestinian babies having limb amputations without anaesthesia? Do people really believe the Palestinians have the luxury of choice right now in what food or medical aid it has available?
Another story that is told to Western audiences is that the Palestinians want to wipe the Israelis out. But anyone can see in the actions of Israel’s regime that it is they who are ethnically cleansing Palestinians; moving them into concentrated areas, and then carpet bombing that same area to completely wipe them out.
There are clear attempts to dehumanise the Palestinian people. In the early days of the genocide, there was a feeble attempt made to defend the morality of Israel, where the MSM would report that Israel was urging civilians to move south in an attempt to protect civilian life. At this stage, there isn’t even a serious attempt to pretend that Israel is behaving morally. The focus has shifted.
Instead, the MSM is doing its utmost to portray Palestinians as sick, murderous terrorists with horrific baseless claims of rape rampages. So when the layman hears about Israel’s bombing of Gaza alongside their fabricated stories of Palestinians doing all sorts of barbaric atrocities, an ignorant onlooker will think the only thing suitable for this Palestinian “human animal” is death.
And they wouldn’t even have compassion when hearing that Israel is bombing the entirety of Gaza, including women, children, schools and hospitals.
The mind games are unreal
In recent days, we have seen the scaremongering tactics intensify, in an attempt to silence pro-Palestinian activists through police intimidation.
There were reports of a conviction of a pro-Palestine protester due to a banner that said: “Israel burn in hell.” Was it not Jordan Peterson who first said: “Give ‘em Hell Neytanyahu” – a clear incitement to violence, encouraging attacks on all Palestinians. No one batted an eye lid then!
As well as this, there have been other arrests made due to placards and banners held up at pro-Palestinian marches. It seems if you support the occupied Palestinians these days you are a criminal but if you support Israel, amid a genocide, you’re somehow fine.
In view of all this, it is difficult to sit here, in our privileged positions, unable to do anything to assist the Palestinian people, to relieve them, to give them respite, to offer them some way out, to feed them. The guilt consumes us.
I see myself in a Palestinian mother, cradling her child wrapped in a blood-stained shroud. I see myself in her, when she kisses her child for the final time, when she squeezes her child tight for the final time, when she pulls his cheeks hoping for a reaction. I see myself in her when she cries uncontrollably and when the sadness consumes her dull face. Who doesn’t? Every Muslim feels the pain of another. Their pain is our pain, their suffering is our suffering, their struggle is our struggle.
Despite the inevitable feelings of helplessness, we must remain hopeful. The least we can do is really take a step back and view our lives and our blessings for what they really are. Our First World problems here are nothing compared to the terrible tragedies the Palestinians are facing.
Therefore, we must ensure we strengthen our family ties for the sake of unity for the Ummah. The Ummah must unite and must not be divided over trivial issues. Life needs to be viewed for what it really is; a fleeting moment, a test, and this should bring about reflection and contemplation in our lives.
We must make every effort to increase our relationship with Allah SWT and make the most of the blessings Allah has bestowed upon us. We must pray for the Palestinians; we must continue to protest and challenge the hypocrisy.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to speak out and stand for the truth. And when they try to silence you, you know that you must be standing on the right side of history!
