The American Muslim scholar Shaykh Hamza Yusuf has apologised for comments he made criticising those who rebelled against Bashar Al Assad in Syria.
A few days ago a video emerged of Shaykh Hamza speaking a few years ago about the wrong-headedness of rebelling against a ruler. He gave the examples of Iraq and Syria. Since then, supporters of the Syrian uprising have heavily criticised him for his remarks.
