Two men charged with murder after Oldham killing

Two men have been charged with murder after a Muslim man was stabbed to death in Oldham after leaving prayers at his local mosque.

Mohammed Nabeel Hassan was fatally injured on Friday afternoon. He suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Oldham men Mohammed Jama, 20, and Musa Jama, 22, have been charged with murder and the possession of a bladed weapon.

Police said: “Officers were called at around 3.20pm on Friday, March 9, to reports that a man was unconscious and not breathing on Waterloo Street. Officers attended and discovered Mohammed Nabeel Hassan with a single stab wound. He was taken to hospital where he sadly died.”

Hassan was newly-married and has been described as “polite and popular.” Devastated friends and neighbours said he was simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

It is believed he had been making his way home after he praying at the Jalalabad Jamay Masjid and getting something to eat.
