Video footage has emerged of a passenger hurling racist abuse at a Muslim taxi driver in Sheldon, east Birmingham.
Police are investigating after the racist tirade was caught on camera by the cabbie, when he stopped to pick up a fare on Coventry Road.
The terrified driver said he would rather have a “runner than a racist” in his cab, after the attack on 15 November 2017.
He explained to Birmingham Mail how a woman in her 50s flagged his taxi outside Titash Indian Restaurant at around 11.30pm.
She was helped inside by her male friend, and asked how much it would cost to travel to Shard End.
But when the woman allegedly became aggressive after being told it would cost £12-£15, the driver refused to take her home and ordered her out of his cab.
Her friend then flew into a rage – screaming racist slurs at the 30-year-old driver – who asked not to be identified.
