A lady from Brooklyn has been jailed for six months for trying to rip the hijab off two Muslim women who were walking with their children.
Emirjeta Xhelili, 32, pleaded guilty in Kings Country Supreme Court to assault as a hate crime for trying to rip the hijab off two Muslim women in Bath Beach, Brooklyn.
On 8 September 2016, Xhelili punched the two women, as well as kicking them, and trying to take off their hijab.
Xhelili also tried to topple the strollers with their young children.
The Islamophobic thug spouted several anti-Muslim statements during her attack, including: “get the f*ck out of America, b*tches” and “this is America you shouldn’t be here, you’re different from us.”
The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) welcomed the guilty plea.
Albert Fox Cahn, Legal Director for CAIR-NY thanked the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office for their “swift” conclusion to the case.
