Islamophobic media personality Katie Hopkins has been reported to the police over a tweet after the Nice attack in which she said it was time to “get intolerant of Islam.”
The complainant, who wants to remain anonymous, spoke to the Metropolitan police on Saturday and said that Hopkins had incited violence and hate against members of a religion.
After more than 80 people were killed in Nice on July 14 by a French-Tunisian man in a truck, Hopkins tweeted to her nearly 650,000 followers:
“The #NiceAttack has everything to do with Islam,” “Islam disgusts me” and “It’s time to get intolerant of Islam.”
The complainant told 5Pillars: “Imagine a Muslim hate preacher saying ‘It’s time to get intolerant of Judaism.’ This would warrant a charge of incitement of violence against Jewish people in Britain.

“I complained because I genuinely felt fearful that her incitement to intolerance will result in another terror attack on Muslims in Britain. The non-violent extremism of Katie Hopkins is more of a threat than that of an ISIS sympathiser because she is a household name, a tolerated celebrity and she disturbingly has numerous platforms on national media.
“Her crimes need to be reported before we hear news that the police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a Muslim girl, and have found interviews, tweets and recordings of Katie Hopkins on his computer which suggest that he has become radicalised. Her colleagues at the Daily Mail and LBC need to condemn her threatening calls for intolerance.”
To the immense frustration of many Muslims, Hopkins is given a platform across the mainstream media and even has her own show on national talk radio station LBC and column in the Daily Mail.
Hopkins was also reported to the police in November 2014 after a number of anti-Muslim rants were sent from her Twitter account including one that called Palestinians “filthy rodents.”
The former Apprentice contestant and Sun columnist, 41, also demanded that Israel “restart the bombing campaign” on Gaza after two Israelis were stabbed to death in separate knife attacks in Tel Aviv.
Tweets from Ms Hopkins’ account said: “Palestinians busy knifing Israelis. 2 state solution my a***. Filthy rodents burrowing beneath Israel. Time to restart the bombing campaign…. Arab terrorists fired rockets from schools and hospitals. They brought down Israeli fire on to their own people. See behind the pictures.”
Dozens accused her of inciting racial hatred and demanded the police take action. But no charges were made.
