The Great British Bake Off champion Nadiya Hussain has announced that she will be baking the Queen’s ninetieth birthday cake.
Nadiya exclusively revealed this news as she returned to the BBC’s “Loose Women” panel.
The 31-year-old left her fellow presenters in shock when she told them about the secret, and confessed she’d been keeping the news for three weeks.
“I’m making the Queen’s ninetieth birthday cake,” the delighted baker announced, “Sometimes I want to drown it out because I don’t want to talk about it.
“How often can you say that you are baking the Queen’s birthday cake in one sentence?”
Nadiya explained that she found out about the news a few weeks back after receiving an email before her agent called her to confirm it was really happening and not just a joke.
Admitting that she was “nervous” she joked she could have said no but wanted to take on the challenge: “I can’t say no to the Queen!”

Adding to her worries, Nadiya said she had searched the internet for examples of past birthday cakes, and wished she hadn’t before revealing the type of cake she was making.
“I’m making an orange drizzle with orange curd and orange butter cream and fondant. I have to give it to her on Thursday, myself.
“I’m so nervous I can’t even look at the oven right now.”
