Ghana’s Sulley Muntari hands out money to poor people in Brazil

In this short video footage, Ghanaian footballer Sulayman Ali “Sulley” Muntari is seen giving money out to poor people in a Brazilian favela.

The AC Milan midfielder was out in the city of Maceio where Ghana’s World Cup team are based.

He was reportedly granted special permission by head coach Kwesi Appiah to fulfil his desire of meeting under privileged people in Brazil.

A recipient of the donations, Edivaldo said: “I’ve lived in this poor community behind the Rei Pele Stadium for forty years but have never seen anything like this before. Not once has a soccer player come here. Brazil never gave me anything but Ghana did. I will support them up to the end.”

Another recipient, Ines Correa said: “My 80-year-old mother and I received R$350 [Brazilian reals]. I believe that he had R$5,000 but unfortunately the police put an end to his good work. In this area we only see politicians at election time.”
