Iran launched a new barrage of missiles at central Israel on Tuesday morning, striking multiple sites in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Israel’s national emergency service, Magen David Adom, said 10 people were injured while running to shelters after air-raid sirens blared in several areas in Tel Aviv.

According to the public broadcaster KAN, an Iranian missile directly struck a building in the greater Tel Aviv area, injuring five people.

KAN did not specify the exact location of the injuries but said they occurred during Iran’s latest missile wave targeting Israeli territory.

Israeli police said the missile barrage caused property damage in Tel Aviv.

Israeli media also reported loud explosions in the greater Tel Aviv and Jerusalem area as air defense systems intercepted Iranian missiles.

Israeli Channel 12 said Iran launched approximately 30 missiles in the latest attack. Some landed across central Israel, including in Herzliya.

Iran’s Fars News Agency confirmed that Tehran used missiles and drones in the latest attack on Israel.

Tensions in the region have intensified since Friday, following Israeli airstrikes targeting several locations across Iran, including military and nuclear sites, which triggered retaliatory attacks from Tehran.

Israeli officials reported that Iranian missile strikes have killed at least 24 people and injured hundreds.

Iran stated that the Israeli attacks have resulted in at least 224 deaths and more than 1,000 injuries.

For its part, the Israeli army claimed that it assassinated Iran’s newly appointed wartime chief of staff Ali Shadmani in an overnight Tuesday strike on the capital Tehran.

“Following precise intelligence received by the IDF (army) Intelligence Directorate and a sudden opportunity overnight (Tuesday), the IAF (air force) struck a staffed command centre in the heart of Tehran and eliminated Ali Shadmani, the wartime chief of staff,” the army said in a statement.

He commanded both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian army, it added.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed Shadmani to succeed the late Gen. Gholam Ali Rashid, head of the central headquarters of the Iranian military, who was killed in Israeli airstrikes on Iran last Friday, according to Iranian state media.

There has been no comment from Iran on the Israeli statement so far.

Meanwhile, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) condemned an Israeli attack Monday on Iranian state TV while it was broadcasting live.

“CPJ is appalled by Israel’s bombing of Iran’s state television channel while reporters were live on air,” said CPJ Middle East and North Africa Regional Director Sara Qudah.

“Israel’s killing, with impunity, of at least 185 journalists in Gaza has emboldened it to target media elsewhere in the region. This bloodshed must end now,” Qudah said.

The strike on state broadcaster IRIB’s building caused the broadcast to be cut off.

It resumed broadcasting after a brief interruption, airing from different studios, according to Iranian media.

Several outlets published videos of the aftermath of the strike.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Iran’s state television and radio were “about to disappear.”

On the diplomatic front, U.S. President Donald Trump said early on Tuesday that he is seeking “a real end” to Iran’s nuclear program, adding that he will be monitoring developments in the Middle East from the White House later in the day.

Speaking to reporters on his return flight from a G7 leaders’ summit in Canada, Trump ruled out the possibility of calling for a ceasefire in the Iran-Israel conflict.

“I didn’t say I was looking for a ceasefire,” he said, CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs posted on X. Instead, he stressed the need for Iran to give up its nuclear activities completely.

He said he is instead seeking “a real end,” which involves Iran “giving up entirely” on nukes.

On Israel’s ongoing military strikes, Trump said: “The Israelis aren’t slowing up their barrage on Iran. You’re going to find out over the next two days. You’re going to find out. Nobody’s slowed up so far.”

On any potential threat to U.S. interests, Trump said Iran knows not to touch U.S. troops, warning that the U.S. would “come down so hard if they do anything to our people.”

Asked about calls for Iran’s capital Tehran to evacuate, Trump said he wants “people to be safe.”

On the possibility of U.S. involvement in the conflict leading to the destruction of Iran’s nuclear program, Trump expressed hope that Iran’s program “is wiped out long before that.”

On the other hand, French President Emmanuel Macron warned yesterday that attempting to change Iran’s regime by force would be a “strategic mistake” and called for an immediate end to strikes targeting civilians in both Iran and Israel.

Speaking to reporters at the G7 summit in Canada, Macron cautioned against external military interventions, saying such actions have consistently failed to bring stability.

“Those who believe that bombing from the outside can save a country despite itself and against itself have always been wrong,” he said.

Macron also strongly condemned attacks on civilian areas and infrastructure.

“It is absolutely essential that all strikes carried out on both sides, against energy, administrative, and cultural infrastructure, and especially against civilians, must stop. Nothing justifies them and they are absolutely intolerable,” he added.

The G7 communique issued the same day labeled Iran “the main source of instability and terrorism in the region,” amid growing tensions over Tehran’s nuclear activities.

Also on Monday, twenty-one Arab and Muslim countries issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s airstrikes on Iran and calling for regional de-escalation, nuclear disarmament “without selectivity” and respect for international law, according to Egypt’s official news agency MENA.

The statement was the result of an initiative by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty following consultations with his counterparts across the region.

The initiative includes Türkiye, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Bahrain, Brunei, Chad, Gambia, Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt and Mauritania.

The foreign ministers condemned Israel’s attacks on Iranian territory, calling them violations of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The joint statement emphasised the need to respect national sovereignty, territorial integrity and principles of good neighborliness and called for peaceful dispute resolution.

The ministers also expressed “deep concern” over the dangerous escalation, warning it could have serious consequences for regional security and stability.

They called for an immediate halt to Israeli hostilities against Iran and for comprehensive de-escalation efforts leading to a comprehensive ceasefire.
