New Islamic channel launches on Sky

A new Islamic station – Eman Channel – launched on Sky 857 on Saturday.

The London-based channel says it aims to produce high quality programmes – in terms of both production value and Islamic principles – and will be available free on satellite television, mobile app and online.

The channel’s content seems to focus more on religion and lifestyle rather than politics. Programmes include UK MMA, My Mum’s Cook Book, Madrasah TV and Young Story Tellers.

On its website Eman Channel says: “The programmes here at Eman Channel aim to reflect this need by representing Islam in contexts suitable for current times and audiences. We guarantee you that our channel will remain dedicated to providing solutions through media for issues that concern the Muslim community.

“The field of Islamic Media requires a boost in order to help engage all members of the Muslim community. We believe that Muslim families should be able to sit together and enjoy entertaining and informative programmes, and our channel intends on bringing about and leading this positive change. Whilst our programmes will provide healthy entertainment for all ages, our Islamic values will always remain at our core. Viewers will be able to enjoy a large variety of unique and inspiring programmes, from educational lectures to cookery and comedy shows.

“Our channel has been blessed to receive the support and contribution from several internationally renowned Muslim figures such as Mufti Ismail Menk, Shaykh Abdur-Raheem Green, Shaykh Abdur-Raheem McCarthy, Imam Wasim Kempson and Shaykh Muiz Bukhary.

“Viewers can be assured that all of our content will be of the highest possible standard in all aspects. All the necessary equipment is and will continue to be used for filming our programmes, whilst all Islamic material shared will be authentically sourced to provide for quality infotainment, ensuring that you can reap the full benefits.”
