Scottish Muslim MP takes swearing-in oath in Urdu

    Humza Yousaf, the Scottish Parliament member for Glasgow Pollok, has taken his swearing-in oath in Urdu to reflect his Pakistani heritage.

    Yousaf, a member of the Scottish National Party, spoke first in English and then in Urdu, swearing “that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth” and concluding with “so help me God.”
