Pakistani PM: The United Nations should demilitarise Kashmir

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called on the United Nations to demilitarise Kashmir.

In a speech to the UN General Assembly he said Pakistan wants peace with India but accused it of “brutality” and “occupation” in Kashmir.

In his speech he also said:

    • Pakistan is ready for talks with India about nuclear non-proliferation.
    • He has moved his country towards robust economic growth.
    • Pakistan is the victim of terrorism (including that sponsored from abroad) but it will eliminate the scourge of terrorism.
    • Peace in Afghanistan can only be achieved through negotiations between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
