Hand-picked group of British Muslims celebrate Eid with Prime Minister

The Prime Minister invited dozens of carefully-selected British Muslims to Downing Street to celebrate Eid yesterday. The group included Muslim members of the armed forces, Tories, liberals, secularists, reformists, and supporters of the Prevent strategy.

Theresa May, who has been criticised for not engaging with grassroots members of the Muslim community, said: “British Muslims, and people of Muslim heritage, are an integral part of modern Britain and make a huge contribution.”

Academic Yahya Birt has posted a critical review of the event here.
