The name “Muhammad” – and variations of it – was the top boy’s baby name in England and Wales last year, new data has revealed.
According to Office for National Statistics, 3,588 boys were named “Muhammad” last year, while 2536 were called “Mohammed” and 1,116 “Mohammad.”
That means in total 7,240 babies were called “Muhammad” (or common variations of it) in 2014. “Muhammad” was also the top name in London.
Meanwhile, 6,649 baby boys were named Oliver. Other popular boys names were Jack, Harry and Jacob.
